January 1918 Densen Works was constructed on the premises of Hitachi, Ltd.'s Hitachi Works (the present Yamate Works) to manufacture wires, cables and copper products.
December 1924 Densen Works was moved to its current location and gradually expanded its product lineup.
September 1947 Densen Works spun off from Hitachi Works and renamed Hitachi Densen Works (the present Densen Works of Hitachi Cable, Ltd.).
April 1956 Hitachi Cable, Ltd. was established.*1
October 1956 Hitachi, Ltd., transferred operations related to wires, cables and copper products to Hitachi Cable, Ltd. and Hitachi Cable commenced operation.
September 1957 Began construction of Hitaka Works.
October 1961 Listed stock on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Osaka Securities Exchange. Kyosan Cable, Ltd., and Hanashima Electric Wire Co., Ltd. (present Hitachi Magnet Wire Corp.) listed their stocks on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
February 1962 Changed listing from the Second to the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Osaka Securities Exchange.
October 1962 Began construction of Tsuchiura Works.
April 1965 Began construction of Toyoura Works.
July 1967 Merged to change the par value of shares.
August 1968 Established the Research Laboratory.
July 1978 Hanashima Electric Wire Co., Ltd., was delisted from the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, but its stock acquired OTC trading status on the Japan Securities Dealers Association Quotation System (JASDAQ).
July 1980 Began construction of Takasago Works.
November 1988 Began construction of Minato Works.
October 1990 Tonichi Cable, Ltd.'s stock acquired OTC trading status on JASDAQ.
October 1991 Kyosan Cable, Ltd., was delisted from the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and listed as a non-OTC stock on JASDAQ.
June 1993 Kyosan Cable, Ltd.'s stock acquired OTC trading status on JASDAQ.
February 2000 Introduced a Business Group system.
April 2000 Tonichi Cable, Ltd., merged with Kyosan Cable, Ltd., Tonichi Cable, Ltd., was renamed Tonichi Kyosan Cable, Ltd.
October 2001 Transferred operations related to design, manufacture and export of high voltage power cables, overhead transmission lines, their accessories and related systems to J-Power Systems Corp.
January 2002 Hanashima Electric Wire Co., Ltd.'s stock lost its OTC trading status on JASDAQ.
February 2002 Hanashima Electric Wire Co., Ltd. became a wholly owned subsidiary through a stock swap.
January 2003 Operations launched at Sumiden Hitachi Cable Ltd., to which the wire & cable business for construction and power sales was trasferred.
June 2003 Shifted to a company which adopted the Committee System.
February 2004 Tonichi Kyosan Cable, Ltd. revokes OTC trading status in JASDAQ.
March 2004 Tonichi Kyosan Cable, Ltd. becomes a wholly owned subsidiary through a stock swap.
April 2006 Optical-fiber cable and optical-fiber wiring devices business transferred to Advanced Cable Systems corp.
 
*1 The registered establishment of the Company is April 1951. This date refers to the establishment of the partner company with which the Company merged for the purpose of changing the par value of shares. The partner company had suspended operation at the time of the merger, and fully took over the business activities of the Company (the merged company) after the merger. Accordingly, the establishment of the Company may substantially be judged to be April 1956. The table above therefore records the substantial milestone events of Hitachi Cable, Ltd.
