Introduction |
Based on the recognition that global environmental issues are important topics of concern shared by all humanity, Hitachi Cable considers harmony with the environment to be one of the most important issues of business management, and the entire company works as one toward achieving such harmony.
In the area of environmentally sensitive products as well, Hitachi Cable is working to expand its lineup of such products having superior performance in terms of safety and recyclability. For this purpose, reducing environmental impact at the stage of purchasing raw materials, components, and other supplies is essential. For this reason, the company's fundamental policies on purchasing call for efforts toward environmental protection, and it is the company's goal to proactively promote green procurement (i.e., giving priority to the purchase of products that have less impact on the environment).
These guidelines are intended to make clear Hitachi Cable's fundamental concepts on green procurement. Since their understanding is essential to promoting green procurement, the cooperation of our suppliers is requested.

The Hitachi Cable Group operates in a broad and diverse range of businesses, and it produces and sells a wide range of products in each industry and service area. To promote green procurement over a broader range of activities, in November 2006 it issued the Hitachi Cable, Ltd. Green Procurement Guidelines.
These Guidelines have been prepared for the purpose of achieving a shared consciousness with suppliers of environmental-protection activities, in order to realize manufacturing that makes contributions to society in the area of the environment.
